Sustainability.

Krill is an important species in the Antarctic.  Many marine animals such as: seals, whales, fish, penguins, birds and squid rely on Krill for their food.

Because of Krill’s importance, the Commission for Conservation of Antarctic Marine Living Resources (CCAMLR) was established in 1982.  Their mission is the  objective of conserving Antarctic marine life.  They estimate the total biomass of krill in one area of fishing in the Antarctic (Area 48) to be 60,300,000 tons.  To read more about their conservative measures please visit www.ccamlr.org

Krill is one of the best managed fishery.  We at Coast Continental Milling Inc. appreciate that this is a unique and special fishery that has much impact upon marine life.   We strive to use suppliers that are MSC certified.  The Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) has developed some of the toughest standards and guidelines for sustainable fishing and traceability.  For more information on their standards and guidelines please visit www.msc.org
